Three interwoven fates. One perilous story.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Ava, Vi, and R: Three different people, three different accidents, and one new piece of life-changing tech.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Ava can’t wait to drop her past life when she gets brought into the fantastical world of Mind Realm. And then the timer starts.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Vi, however, feels trapped by Mind Realm. Everything reminds her of things she wants to forget, and it seems like this new world is pitted against her. Vi can’t tell what’s real and what’s fake. And now everyone she thought she could trust wants to kill her.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">R can’t remember anything. This new mind-reading tech is just another weird piece in a broken puzzle. The countdown to greatness, because R is done hiding in the shadows.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">What's your favorite genre to read?</span></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><br /></p><p style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #76a5af; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></p>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-15290536693714643912022-12-23T12:21:00.004-07:002022-12-23T12:21:55.624-07:00DIY Stuffed Animal NG/NJ Tube<p>Medical stuffies are becoming a big thing lately, and for good reason! Many people have medical devices that they need, and having a stuffed animal or doll that shares those devices helps them feel less alone! Unfortunately, these medical stuffies are still rather difficult to find, so here I have a quick tutorial on how to make your stuffed animal a DIY NG/NJ tube!</p><p>For people who don't know what those are, nasogastric/ nasojejunal tubes go directly to the stomach or jejunum for people who can't eat or digest food properly. These tubes go from the nose and down the esophagus to their destination to deliver food and nutrition.</p><p>Ok, now let's get making!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihmKRySAm5l0j5OY_KDojfG3etI0BpycoJfm3ANFOxs7QyA5rDenc5lJHjf31Ru0qyv51iMRX176gbDQ1aOVYZgOFkiCi3AKW4wdgYWiG71DyUo32b2f8UikCklfS86LCt--sDnDTtE15d_BuKO3irIvcynQmSYbqQW1NLnUXvQUNvWZ9DWmy5U6NU4Q/s4160/IMG20221223120033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihmKRySAm5l0j5OY_KDojfG3etI0BpycoJfm3ANFOxs7QyA5rDenc5lJHjf31Ru0qyv51iMRX176gbDQ1aOVYZgOFkiCi3AKW4wdgYWiG71DyUo32b2f8UikCklfS86LCt--sDnDTtE15d_BuKO3irIvcynQmSYbqQW1NLnUXvQUNvWZ9DWmy5U6NU4Q/w480-h640/IMG20221223120033.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>For the tube, you'll need a length of string (preferably thick, round string. Plastic friendship bracelet string is highly recommended), a triangular bead with a large hole (so you can fit the tip of a syringe into it), and some stickers or paper and double-sided tape. You'll also need glue; hot glue would work best.<div><br /><div>To start, measure the string against your stuffed animal and cut it to a proper length. Measure from the nose, up the cheek, and then down to about the tip of the paw/hand for a good length. Add about an inch and then cut. To insert the tube into the nose, either find a seam near the nose, cut a small hole, or carefully insert the tip under the stitches if the nose is embroidered like my bear's is. Use thin tweezers to place the tube in the seam, slit, or under the embroidery. Tie a knot in the other end of the string and carefully glue it into the smaller end of the triangular bead. Look at the pictures for reference if you need to.</div><div><br /></div><div>For tubie tape, you have a few options. You could simply stick the tube to the cheek with a sticker, or you could cut a rounded rectangle from paper and use double stick tape to attach it like I mentioned with the sticker. I used a wrapping paper scrap for festivity.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyRQjRuh4ooxrrx_aR8vqT7eOpxqC79UE1tPSfdDJsaIa8VTXmm9gZY7itUhjugOUgjXmmm32qnOB4APBG_tk4hHWsc9TswWsa-IjhgjuEegmkiNGTj8S3LmWv5e_WquKyeyG37OoLfjocJ0WU5l2cNYw91N2enn8xwMu_uKIe0THZiPBGIGWmWLRb2g/s4160/IMG20221223120148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyRQjRuh4ooxrrx_aR8vqT7eOpxqC79UE1tPSfdDJsaIa8VTXmm9gZY7itUhjugOUgjXmmm32qnOB4APBG_tk4hHWsc9TswWsa-IjhgjuEegmkiNGTj8S3LmWv5e_WquKyeyG37OoLfjocJ0WU5l2cNYw91N2enn8xwMu_uKIe0THZiPBGIGWmWLRb2g/w480-h640/IMG20221223120148.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>To "feed" your tubie pal, simply insert a <a href="https://amzn.to/3YNA25g">syringe</a> into the open end of the triangular bead. Don't put anything into the syringe! That would make a huge mess and most likely ruin your stuffie. </div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6fKfO9kcOXYV2dUZm14T1BgbeZt4HfqdfCuZOPMrcCMz3OJQG5ZpI_mGZqoBL0CYkNyJXEisi7Wyo8vJhc2cSaFiq2KwL5P7CY3eEcv2Zcfv7jHIJ2X_tCQKCVk597vRO11He2SOJ2KhHqLghv1HRb89haRTsgLMsvSl7G_xZCTB3htWtwkbU1JudGw/s4160/IMG20221223120217.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6fKfO9kcOXYV2dUZm14T1BgbeZt4HfqdfCuZOPMrcCMz3OJQG5ZpI_mGZqoBL0CYkNyJXEisi7Wyo8vJhc2cSaFiq2KwL5P7CY3eEcv2Zcfv7jHIJ2X_tCQKCVk597vRO11He2SOJ2KhHqLghv1HRb89haRTsgLMsvSl7G_xZCTB3htWtwkbU1JudGw/w480-h640/IMG20221223120217.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Your tubie pal is done!</div><div>If you want more medical stuffie DIYs, drop a comment and let me know!</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="color: #b4a7d6; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p></div></div>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-32926386219429590602022-06-20T09:28:00.005-06:002022-06-20T09:28:42.850-06:00Book Review: Rebel with a Donut<p> SO sorry for not posting in FOREVER. I've been kind of busy and a little forgetful :)</p><p>Anyways, here's my latest book review: <i>Rebel with a Donut</i> by Chrissy Q Martin.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0XEvr8qaHtGHT-KQxy_BfBMI-CnWiUGBN4wzuvVB8DoN8_qQVtk27BMlwMWbwgfrfhpMPRTchsS4SphsBUk6i-BgDQ6m9WuzPFsMzbo4hMdnoh76gQdrx119X-qebPCUBaRFmOMIO3JWehvuKoM5-nWtVprd6s74U-f3Bk-PQjJK15ZhnYe3OLcO9QQ/s2550/Rebel%20with%20a%20Donut%20Final%20Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2550" data-original-width="1590" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0XEvr8qaHtGHT-KQxy_BfBMI-CnWiUGBN4wzuvVB8DoN8_qQVtk27BMlwMWbwgfrfhpMPRTchsS4SphsBUk6i-BgDQ6m9WuzPFsMzbo4hMdnoh76gQdrx119X-qebPCUBaRFmOMIO3JWehvuKoM5-nWtVprd6s74U-f3Bk-PQjJK15ZhnYe3OLcO9QQ/w400-h640/Rebel%20with%20a%20Donut%20Final%20Cover.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><h4 style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 4px; text-align: center; text-rendering: optimizelegibility;"><span class="a-text-bold" style="box-sizing: border-box;"><br /></span></h4><h4 style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 4px; text-align: center; text-rendering: optimizelegibility;"><span class="a-text-bold" style="box-sizing: border-box;">"Five teenagers and four senior citizens together in a retirement community. I'm getting back to it. Pardon me if this review doesn't measure up to my past ones.</span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">First things first: this book is a great summer binge-read. It's best read huddled under the covers on those nights that are too hot to sleep (not exactly my own words, but I agree with whoever said them.) While <i>Rebel with a Donut </i>is the first book in a three-book series, you could just as easily read it without following through (but I do recommend finishing the series!).</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">I'm not typically a fan of sweet romances, and I did skip most of the romantic parts of this book, but overall it was a great read. It was a very clean book, with minimal mild swearing and just a few mentions of addiction.</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">The main character seems to actually be me, so it wasn't too hard for me to connect to the book. The premise of the book is that the main character goes to a retirement community to visit her grandma (and break her habit of following rules). Honestly, the most likeable characters were the grandmas. I don't want to spoil the book, though, so I won't say any more! If you're already interested, you should definitely read the book right now. You can find it <a href="https://amzn.to/3OtxyDe">here</a>.</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">A basic conclusion of both my review and the book: the characters are real and relatable, the plot is simple but effective and oftentimes unexpected, and the turnout of the book wraps the whole story up in a neat little bow (even though there are more books that follow! You can find the second one <a href="https://amzn.to/3Oa6Uj1">here</a> and the third one <a href="https://amzn.to/3tMd14Q">here</a>.)</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">Thanks for reading! Hopefully you'll read the book now. I loved it, and I'm sure you will too! (If it's up your alley.)</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;">Comment with suggestions of books you want me to review!</span></span></div><div><span style="color: #0f1111; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Amazon Ember, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Baby Girl</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-13973996567009906052022-02-13T13:56:00.001-07:002022-02-13T13:56:08.984-07:0010 Great Valentine's Day Gifts<p> Here's a little list of 10 Valentine's Day gifts that you can find or make (or a combination of the two). All links go directly to Amazon in case you need supplies or want to find a pattern I used.</p><p><b>1. Handmade Necklace Charm</b></p><p>Trace a little rectangle three times onto fabric (felt works best), cut them out, and then cut one rectangle in half (Discard one of the halves.). Sew decorations to the front of one piece for the front of the charm, then cut a rectangle of cardboard smaller than the felt rectangles. Now, make a sandwich in this order: short fabric piece, normal felt rectangle, cardboard, a piece of ribbon folded into a loop, and then the decorated rectangle. Sew around the edges of the fabric, being careful not to sew into the cardboard. When you're finished, it should be a sturdy charm with a loop for hanging and a pocket on the back for tucking a little note or picture into. (This idea came from the book<i> <a href="https://amzn.to/3HRyI8M">Microcrafts</a></i>.)<br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgbmtYYy7hc1CuKGAmvIDt7FlJkRxx_BzDLFHf2igIs9bWQVuCrDaMZ220uXnmkPJJl4np4FgW_L5udd9mjcx6AGRIEVPm5lfCTjsKCiZdW2rKjikVP1bbBNalVWtpizPSNT7n0COGE89p06TYGcv6jgHtYz52X1YzTIMLFWF8T_jQl5ODhVikYndRScQ=s4160" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgbmtYYy7hc1CuKGAmvIDt7FlJkRxx_BzDLFHf2igIs9bWQVuCrDaMZ220uXnmkPJJl4np4FgW_L5udd9mjcx6AGRIEVPm5lfCTjsKCiZdW2rKjikVP1bbBNalVWtpizPSNT7n0COGE89p06TYGcv6jgHtYz52X1YzTIMLFWF8T_jQl5ODhVikYndRScQ=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><p><br /></p><b>2. Handmade Infinity Bracelet</b><p></p><p>You can make the bracelet however you want, but to make the infinity, follow these directions: Cut a piece of wire, preferably thin wire and in a color you like, into a length between three to five inches, depending on what size you want the infinity. Guess where the middle is, then mentally split the wire into quarter lengths. Then, judging on the outside 1/4s, grasp somewhere closer to the center than the outermost quarter "lines" and fold it in on itself into a gentle, 180-degree curve. Twist the ends together like shown in the picture, then add to any bracelet however you like.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh38SyUke6ZmT0XWy9yxlbio0S50-e8qCmBv8QhxQ1OtPFIn9RMBBQU6zDPf2JWbyO6X-dg-ghT1v-TCu491q4pwF4fJ8WI90WLMSMR3xtoVuSLt9lJDFcOYl1Smv2Ayn4qc68T2mcoQf7GiEJdYXRgVNmcs-MopJEU12_4oLUtgLeCg0ePVRoeQoPgow=s4160" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh38SyUke6ZmT0XWy9yxlbio0S50-e8qCmBv8QhxQ1OtPFIn9RMBBQU6zDPf2JWbyO6X-dg-ghT1v-TCu491q4pwF4fJ8WI90WLMSMR3xtoVuSLt9lJDFcOYl1Smv2Ayn4qc68T2mcoQf7GiEJdYXRgVNmcs-MopJEU12_4oLUtgLeCg0ePVRoeQoPgow=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></div><p><br /></p><b>3. Handmade Wire Bracelet</b><p></p><p>Take a good long piece of wire and wind it around in a circle bigger than the wrist it's meant for. Take the ends of the wire and bend into a sharp angle, almost 180 degrees. Twist the end of one of the bends onto the long end of the wire to create a loop for the other end of the wire to clasp into. Thread beads and shank buttons onto the wire and let them slide around. Then, if you want to keep the various levels of wire together, wrap a thin red ribbon around the part of the bracelet farthest from the closure and tie knots at both ends. (I made my bracelet with an old guitar string.) <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgdk0QgCvoZiP5YWKR9pM96PJJXHHB2cLnTz8xltfc_hmRVxUOuJIFYSmmxUbZx_4Jmj2HbLe2VNWuVGwMZQN1dxedcthDpCf0z6iSzeU2TW5MRXPr-SSglitKpcuVO9OLivEknC6qLnV-7U5QEzit7Z9ywIUMMzhrkdjhNMr1gUG4jL7NU9E_afwXsAw=s4160" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgdk0QgCvoZiP5YWKR9pM96PJJXHHB2cLnTz8xltfc_hmRVxUOuJIFYSmmxUbZx_4Jmj2HbLe2VNWuVGwMZQN1dxedcthDpCf0z6iSzeU2TW5MRXPr-SSglitKpcuVO9OLivEknC6qLnV-7U5QEzit7Z9ywIUMMzhrkdjhNMr1gUG4jL7NU9E_afwXsAw=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><b>4. Flowers</b><div>This is quite self-explanatory, but I have one caution: Never give someone cut flowers. Live flowers or fake flowers are good gifts because they can last literally forever. Cut flowers are a lovely gift if you want to give your friend or significant other something that has literally been dying since the stem was cut. A flower that will inevitably slowly die is not an optimal gift. A stuffed animal is a cute option, too.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxgD6xuFfh6s5DGOoGWSHj_m3bSRR5GOpARdP6hFhM7QgHYZwS_evOljTQ5CUurOg8RnEgIgl-ZR5eWu7YQzWMx1jqgBML7ozk0c0jE9Aj2W99Uy-irDIyH13OQpinSjJUgca8TrGIG1GLggMrdCeYJnqlY_pBVRQV96OsN0JeY4luuloLG_FebTw0MQ=s4160" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxgD6xuFfh6s5DGOoGWSHj_m3bSRR5GOpARdP6hFhM7QgHYZwS_evOljTQ5CUurOg8RnEgIgl-ZR5eWu7YQzWMx1jqgBML7ozk0c0jE9Aj2W99Uy-irDIyH13OQpinSjJUgca8TrGIG1GLggMrdCeYJnqlY_pBVRQV96OsN0JeY4luuloLG_FebTw0MQ=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><div><br /></div><b>5. Mini Handmade Cards</b></div><div>To start, you need to decide a size for the finished card. It can honestly be whatever you want. (To make an envelope, find a pattern online and scale to your card size.) To make the card, cut out a rectangle in the size you want height-wise and double the size you want widthwise. Fold the card in half to make it actually a card and not a postcard (you could do that instead, though). Measure 1/4 of an inch (about 6 mm) or so from the edges on the front to create a border. Paste a nice background paper in the border. <a href="https://amzn.to/3Jr98ru">Scrapbook paper</a> works well, or old magazine clippings. Cut out some shapes for the foreground. Hearts work well (duh), as do balloons or things like that. You can also look at mine for ideas.</div><div>(This idea came from the book <i><a href="https://amzn.to/3HRyI8M">Microcrafts</a></i>. Find a small stuffed animal pattern online, trace it onto fabric (again, felt works best for small things because it doesn't fray), and cut out the pieces. Sew them together neatly, leaving a small gap. Stuff stuffing into the animal with a pencil and sew up the rest. Embroider facial features or draw them on with permanent or fabric markers. Vegan diets, if you do it right, save the planet and can give you all the vitamins and other vital things you need. However, many people want to go vegan but simply don't have the time to research and plan what foods give them important vitamins and such but are also planet-safe. Let's face it: not all vegan alternatives save the planet. Some use palm oil that is grown in chopped-down rainforest land. Some vegan foods are planet-safe and give you a balanced diet, but you have to look.</p><p>In comes the part-time vegan diet. This diet is especially helpful for people who are lactose-intolerant or something else vegetarians eat but vegans don't. By weighing out meat and other animal products, you can eat without having to worry about ruining the planet or being a full-time vegan (kudos if you are, though. That's a big responsibility!).</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-915CmMUgL7Y/YNKbP8EyagI/AAAAAAAApYY/4XgHr0NUMIwmHS8M6f8ipHwhjoBA1Q-6ACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/5-21-14%2BFood%2B%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-915CmMUgL7Y/YNKbP8EyagI/AAAAAAAApYY/4XgHr0NUMIwmHS8M6f8ipHwhjoBA1Q-6ACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h426/5-21-14%2BFood%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><p>The part-time vegan's diet might look something like this over a week (dinners only):</p><p><b>Sunday:</b> First day of the week starts non-vegan. Dinner might include hard-boiled eggs, fish, water to drink, and a salad. Chocolate for dessert.</p><p><b>Monday:</b> First vegan day of the week. Dinner might be a couscous bowl, almond milk to drink, celery for a vegetable, and vegan chocolate mousse for dessert.</p><p><b>Tuesday: </b>Back to normal life (for un-vegan/vegetarians), or, possibly a vegetarian meal. Maybe bean and rice tacos with sour cream and cheese, a seltzer water to drink, plus some kale chips as the side? What about ice cream for dessert?</p><p><b>Wednesday: </b>Vegan again. Try a tossed salad with kale, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, homemade dressing, and crushed uncooked noodles. How about a glass of grape juice to drink? Vegan chocolate drops would make a good dessert. (Yes, I like chocolate!)</p><p><b>Thursday:</b> Vegetarian again or normal diet. Possibly something like the picture above. A free-form salad with celery, lettuce, kale chips, olives, and cucumbers, or try some carrots or onions for variety. Maybe have a dinner roll on the side. Drink a tea with dinner. Have some Oreos or similar cookies for dessert.</p><p><b>Friday: </b>Vegan, again. Try homemade vegan "tuna" salad for dinner. Drink water, maybe with some vegan protein or probiotic powder? Coconut macarons made with a vegan-friendly recipe make a good dessert.</p><p><b>Saturday: </b>Free-form. Vegan, vegetarian, or normal diet, whichever you want.</p><p>So there you go. A model part-time vegan's week. Before we go, I want to give an example of an animal that eats like a vegan, because let's face it, humans are made to be omnivores. Vegan goes beyond what we're made to eat.</p><p>But did you know pandas do, too? Pandas are bears, as you probably know. But did you also know that pandas have teeth and a digestive tract suited for just and only meat, like all other bears? And what do they eat? Bamboo. Only bamboo. That's right. Pandas are meant to eat meat but their diet is primarily a singular plant. No wonder they spend so many hours a day eating and resting! They take longer to digest their meals.</p><p>Are you vegan, or were you inspired to try being a part-time vegan? Tell me!</p><p><br /></p><p><span style="color: #f1c232; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></p>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-64187670594415838662021-06-19T16:01:00.002-06:002021-06-19T16:01:37.249-06:00Dashing Diva Gel Nail Strips Review<p>So this time I'm reviewing a product I recently tried with my mom. She was interested in gel nail strips that she'd heard about, so we got some at Walmart to try out.</p><p><span>The nail strips come in lines on plastic sheets so you can size them to your nail. The box we got had 34 strips, two of which were very large, most likely for toes. To apply the nails, you take the right size off the sheet, carefully line the bottom up just above your cuticle after cleaning all your nails, and press it down, exactly like a sticker. Once in position, you take the included file and rub in one direction to get rid of the excess material above the tip of your nail. The total process, for my mom and I to do all twenty of our fingernails separately, took about forty-five minutes.</span><br /></p><p>Some things to point out would be that the strips are very long. VERY long. So long, in fact, that my mom and I cut our pinkie finger strips in half and used a half on each nail, and we still had excess on the ends. Also, the included file isn't <i>too</i> high-quality, so if you have a better one you might want to use it instead.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iJaaBvWNnIo/YM5g64Hv0xI/AAAAAAAApWk/IdM84J8JANo0VdkJWKIDg-_LsUqT3MXPACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210528_200536.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iJaaBvWNnIo/YM5g64Hv0xI/AAAAAAAApWk/IdM84J8JANo0VdkJWKIDg-_LsUqT3MXPACNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/IMG_20210528_200536.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>After application of the gel nails, it's recommended that you don't expose your hands to water or lotion for about an hour. We put them on around bedtime, so that wasn't too hard until we had to shower or such. The box says the nails last up to fourteen days.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dxa3TR7duQc/YM5g7GrsQyI/AAAAAAAApWo/ZrE-186D07AUBchPswXVtUA2i-itPhqSgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210528_203948.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dxa3TR7duQc/YM5g7GrsQyI/AAAAAAAApWo/ZrE-186D07AUBchPswXVtUA2i-itPhqSgCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210528_203948.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PgJUXNcSJyY/YM5g5aeN0XI/AAAAAAAApWg/Mc4yGoZsbgopJ5-Pb2U0T4fJRotOqimTwCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210528_204106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PgJUXNcSJyY/YM5g5aeN0XI/AAAAAAAApWg/Mc4yGoZsbgopJ5-Pb2U0T4fJRotOqimTwCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210528_204106.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>The picture below is my gel nails after fifteen days. We removed them then. You can see if you look closely that the edges of the nails are starting to get ragged, and I also had my nail break under one the morning of day fifteen, so I needed to remove it to fix my nail. This post is about Minecraft ones, if you're wondering.</p><p>Minecraft foxes have ten health points (five hearts). They are passive but will attack a few creatures (other than the player, of course) if they are wild. If they are tamed, they will attack any mob that attacks the player. You can "use" leads and sweet berries on foxes; the latter makes the foxes breed, and the baby will trust you. In the upcoming update, they will also accept glow berries.</p><p>The fox in the picture below is fishing for salmon. Foxes will attack and kill salmon, tropical fish, cod, chickens, rabbits, and beached baby turtles.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V84ThIk9WL4/YK1PWbF1oDI/AAAAAAAAox8/wB5uky1-d2w5yl2L6kQ1_OVHXF6-n8xeACNcBGAsYHQ/s1920/Fox%2BFishing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1920" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V84ThIk9WL4/YK1PWbF1oDI/AAAAAAAAox8/wB5uky1-d2w5yl2L6kQ1_OVHXF6-n8xeACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h360/Fox%2BFishing.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>Foxes have the special and funny/annoying ability to pick up anything on the ground. They prefer food items to anything else and will eventually eat the food unless it is cake. Guess they don't like frosted, baked goods. Foxes will happily spit out non-food items for food ones, so if one picks up your sword just toss some food on the ground. The funny thing is, when foxes eat the food in their mouths, they will be affected by the effects of the food. If it eats chorus fruit, it will teleport accordingly, if it eats rotten flesh it will get sick, and, likewise, if it eats a golden apple it will get absorption. If the fox picks up a weapon, it can wield it without taking a toll on the weapon's durability. Remember that if you get a good sword and a trusting fox. Foxes with totems of undying in their mouths will use the totem and get a second chance at life much like the player would. Foxes with a fire aspect sword that hit a mob in an extinguished campfire will relight the campfire and give a critical hit to the mob.</p><p>Foxes are hunted by wolves and polar bears alike. Even baby polar bears, which are passive, will attack foxes within sixteen blocks. If in a snowy biome or forest, you'll want to keep cute little foxy close.</p><p>Foxes like to sneak into villages at night and murder the villagers' chickens, so if you have a pet fox you might want to keep an eye on it while you trade. Foxes also tend to let out screeches at night.</p><p>Foxes are very sleepy, and during the day will sleep in places with a light level of less than fourteen. If a thunderstorm is occurring, however, they will be unable to sleep. Foxes have even been known to fall asleep in the middle of a walk on their leads. Also, foxes are scared of sleeping near armor stands, so they won't sleep within twelve blocks of one. If a wild fox is sleeping, you can sneak up to it without waking it up until you stand on an adjacent block. Foxes will not wake up unless they are exposed to light levels above fifteen.</p><p>Fortunately, foxes only drop 1-3 experience points as adults, so there's no use in killing them. You can even get more experience <i>breeding</i> them. Baby foxes, like other baby animals, drop no experience. Foxes will always drop whatever is currently in their mouths, and, say, not in their stomachs. (So if a fox ate your enchanted golden apple, too bad!)</p><p>Lastly, the most important part, foxes spawn in taiga, giant tree taiga, and snowy taiga biomes. The snowy taiga houses snowy foxes, which are just like red foxes but are colored white and have different favorite foods.</p><p><br /></p><p>What other mobs do you want to see specialized posts on? They taste amazing and are a great recipe to use up those brown bananas rolling around the bottom of your fruit bowl.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rZ8slWYNwbk/YJVykNge9gI/AAAAAAAAogk/lS4JZLQuLZ42HdN4prHTfVnLhwfk0o9SACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210507_105944484.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rZ8slWYNwbk/YJVykNge9gI/AAAAAAAAogk/lS4JZLQuLZ42HdN4prHTfVnLhwfk0o9SACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210507_105944484.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Here're the ingredients you'll need to make the muffins.<p></p><p>Dry ingredients:</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>2 cups all-purpose flour</li><li>2 teaspoons baking powder</li><li>1/4 teaspoon salt</li><li>1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon</li><li>1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg</li></ul>Wet ingredients:<br /><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>3 very ripe and large bananas</li><li>1 cup firmly packed brown sugar (I actually used a mix of white and brown)</li><li>1/2 sour cream (to make this vegan, use either a vegan sour cream or an alternative, such as vegan yogurt)</li><li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract</li><li>4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for vegan, use vegan butter, or oat milk in a pinch)</li><li>1/2 cup chocolate chips, any kind you want. <a href="https://amzn.to/3baj6is">Semisweet</a>, <a href="https://amzn.to/3ttMXZB">milk</a>, or <a href="https://amzn.to/3epXpgj">dark</a> work well. (Vegan alternatives for this include vegan chips, or you could use nuts.)</li></ul><p>Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, or 335 degrees F for convection ovens.</p>To actually make the muffins, mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg) in a large bowl. Peel the bananas into a medium bowl and mash them. Mix the brown sugar, sour cream, vanilla, and butter with the bananas. Dump the wet stuff into the dry stuff and add the chocolate chips.<p></p><p>Prepare the muffin pans (my batch made sixteen, though yours could be different). Scoop just less than a quarter cup of muffin batter into each cup, then bake. Mine took fifteen minutes, though you might want to start with ten to twelve.</p><p>When a toothpick stuck in the center of one of the muffins comes out clean, take the pans out, turn the oven off, and let the muffins cool for five minutes. After five minutes, carefully take the muffins out of the pan and place them somewhere to cool fully, or serve them warm.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DLQX1Z6jAf4/YJVyj9r6ZhI/AAAAAAAAogc/IV-dQbdmbMYUsiE0sKa30FcSmsKABA9iwCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210507_105916886.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DLQX1Z6jAf4/YJVyj9r6ZhI/AAAAAAAAogc/IV-dQbdmbMYUsiE0sKa30FcSmsKABA9iwCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210507_105916886.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kAlzMto_8Bo/YJVyjwV-qUI/AAAAAAAAogg/wX6jEw2N46QHRaoNeK59qBaOtD3BXNE_gCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210507_105837143.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kAlzMto_8Bo/YJVyjwV-qUI/AAAAAAAAogg/wX6jEw2N46QHRaoNeK59qBaOtD3BXNE_gCNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/IMG_20210507_105837143.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>These muffins would make a great Mother's Day breakfast! If you like banana chunks in your muffins, mush the bananas less. If you like the taste but want "smooth" muffins, try putting the bananas in a food processor.<p></p><p><span> What is your favorite muffin recipe? It's so fun to do and looks almost like a row of knitting. I'm not sure if it's a real knot or not (Heh-heh), but it's SO FUN.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PeMXF2Dzzvs/YIXLs434kLI/AAAAAAAAoTM/LA8AdPnJsIomxNt1M9MuX4VbI8KiAGrpQCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135407268.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PeMXF2Dzzvs/YIXLs434kLI/AAAAAAAAoTM/LA8AdPnJsIomxNt1M9MuX4VbI8KiAGrpQCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135407268.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>To do the knot, you'll first need at least one piece of string. I have two here because I wrap one string around the other, but you can do the knot around pretty much anything if the string or rope is long enough. Take your string and fold it in half, creating a loop and two ends.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-biCY8b-BAKk/YIXLs7f7yII/AAAAAAAAoTQ/d7vkxjj9VjoRvNVRDC5wzenOVw2yq5yxgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135431117.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-biCY8b-BAKk/YIXLs7f7yII/AAAAAAAAoTQ/d7vkxjj9VjoRvNVRDC5wzenOVw2yq5yxgCNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/IMG_20210425_135431117.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>Lay one string horizontally underneath the vertically placed object (I'll just call it the vertical string from now on.) you're practicing on. In this case, I'm tying the blue string around the green one. The picture above if flipped, but you shouldn't need a picture to guide you on this step.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cjTFLhT8nJE/YIXLtOaK12I/AAAAAAAAoTU/CINPFovg__klEbdOtL52hzWUC3vGdeQpACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135504961.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cjTFLhT8nJE/YIXLtOaK12I/AAAAAAAAoTU/CINPFovg__klEbdOtL52hzWUC3vGdeQpACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135504961.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Take the two-ended part of the horizontal string and bring it to the same side as the loop end, going over the vertical string. As you do, bring the two ends <i>through</i> the loop.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_rS6e9Cyl8I/YIXLt_HtnZI/AAAAAAAAoTY/IeAO4PCjyE4_aUyrnBbmWP7RM-xgCkdCgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135536276.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_rS6e9Cyl8I/YIXLt_HtnZI/AAAAAAAAoTY/IeAO4PCjyE4_aUyrnBbmWP7RM-xgCkdCgCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135536276.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Pull tight. You might have done this knot before, but we're going to continue.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bHvgaykwy4U/YIXLub-oebI/AAAAAAAAoTc/RhjaGm5ODiQImm5-S7tZKMuFc4y5lHTqACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135555667.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bHvgaykwy4U/YIXLub-oebI/AAAAAAAAoTc/RhjaGm5ODiQImm5-S7tZKMuFc4y5lHTqACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135555667.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Take the the ends, the only free ones of the horizontal string, and bring them over, <i>*but not the way they want to go, in my case right rather than left*, </i>the vertical string. Once you do, take them again and bring them under the vertical string.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qh4DiRiyFwg/YIXLudvbMpI/AAAAAAAAoTg/Qcj8JL_IOmcItST4QssOUHT01_BVbBqvQCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135614777.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qh4DiRiyFwg/YIXLudvbMpI/AAAAAAAAoTg/Qcj8JL_IOmcItST4QssOUHT01_BVbBqvQCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135614777.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Bring the two ends through the loop they created on the other side of the string. Bring the two horizontal ends across the vertical string and through the loop.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FBNhiuNeaew/YIXLujtgrwI/AAAAAAAAoTk/uvDBoQ2L1OssUutD8SFKmZzIYZybsO26ACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135633474.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FBNhiuNeaew/YIXLujtgrwI/AAAAAAAAoTk/uvDBoQ2L1OssUutD8SFKmZzIYZybsO26ACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135633474.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Pull tight. Look at the ribbed edge you started to create above the vertical string. This is the idea. Let's keep going.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G52wimQPjOM/YIXLvuKzWcI/AAAAAAAAoTs/thE9Ro9O6Okqcg3RcfTwAlcxJOm7e_Q1ACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135653326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G52wimQPjOM/YIXLvuKzWcI/AAAAAAAAoTs/thE9Ro9O6Okqcg3RcfTwAlcxJOm7e_Q1ACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135653326.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Bring the two ends across the vertical string again, again in the way they don't want to lay. As before, bring them under the vertical string.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j4pQLckI27c/YIXLvXD7KnI/AAAAAAAAoTo/dfh_ES3QSWoogFY9elEwXUTGk9Ft3dgcgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_135716367_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j4pQLckI27c/YIXLvXD7KnI/AAAAAAAAoTo/dfh_ES3QSWoogFY9elEwXUTGk9Ft3dgcgCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_20210425_135716367_HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Pull the two ends through the loop they created as you did last time. Pull tight. Are you getting the idea now? Keep going! Knot until you run out of string or have gone as far as you'd like.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o8WyLpaDFnc/YIXLvocdjuI/AAAAAAAAoTw/UuFNExCOB2AUVjtMzUz4hbZ9DLA3wLTRACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20210425_140027681.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o8WyLpaDFnc/YIXLvocdjuI/AAAAAAAAoTw/UuFNExCOB2AUVjtMzUz4hbZ9DLA3wLTRACNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/IMG_20210425_140027681.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><p>You can keep this going for a while, and as you keep going you'll notice the knots will arrange themselves in a pattern much like knitting! When you're finished, bunch the strings on the opposite side of the row together so the vertical string is not visible underneath.</p><p>This knotting technique is great to cover a keyring for a gift, or basically anything that can easily and safely be accessed by you.</p><p>Do you have a favorite knot that looks really cool? I rounded up five of my random "recycled" projects from around the house to show you. Hopefully they inspire you to figure out uses for all those bits and pieces that you just can't throw away.</p><p><b><span style="font-size: medium;"><span> </span>1. Itty-bitty Stuffed Animals or People (Using fabric)</span></b></p><p><span>These are so fun to make. Find a pattern online, or draw your own. Any fabric works, but I especially like felt or fleece because they don't unravel and that seems to happen on small stuffed animals. The stuffed animals are very easy to make since they are so small: Minimal stitching and just as much adorable-ness. They make great gifts and surprises, but I do not recommend giving them to small children.</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F8NXSshTKeE/YDwNOhy0m9I/AAAAAAAAnfI/CHJ5iCMsszMW-3kzrghNUkK_0W35PQ-TQCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F8NXSshTKeE/YDwNOhy0m9I/AAAAAAAAnfI/CHJ5iCMsszMW-3kzrghNUkK_0W35PQ-TQCNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25281%2529.jpg" width="480" /></a></div> <span style="font-size: medium;"><b>2. Music Disk-Holder Cup Coaster (Using a music disk holder)</b></span><div>I'm not really sure how many people even have music on disks anymore, but for anyone who does (And keeps the disks in a spot other than their original holders!), the plastic cases the music disks come in make nice cup coasters. You don't even have to do anything. Just put your cup on the case. If you're worried about scratching or something, pick up a few self-adhesive felt pads from your local hardware store and slap them on the bottom four corners. Done.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3QITbVLx7uU/YDwNQ2LGOfI/AAAAAAAAnfQ/bovw_lSxmp4U2dRWtVKlyy3AGA-mc8kwACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3QITbVLx7uU/YDwNQ2LGOfI/AAAAAAAAnfQ/bovw_lSxmp4U2dRWtVKlyy3AGA-mc8kwACNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="480" /></a></div> <span style="font-size: medium;"><b>3. Storage Containers (Using any nice, clean container)</b></span></div><div>Anything works for this one. That old flowerpot on the back shelf of your shed. The soup can on the counter, waiting to go to the garbage pail or recycling bin. Even the egg carton you just used the last egg out of. If you'd like your container nicer-looking, either paint directly on it, or cut and decorate a piece of paper to glue around the container. If you're wondering what you can use an egg carton for, it holds rings, hair elastics, and earrings very nicely. Just cut the carton to size, leaving as many cups as necessary. Make sure none of your containers have sharp edges.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_51JbaKC1o8/YDwNPFAbp3I/AAAAAAAAnfM/flDtmVFolX8HhvDQ-q2sbHyU-z6MlYl7gCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25283%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_51JbaKC1o8/YDwNPFAbp3I/AAAAAAAAnfM/flDtmVFolX8HhvDQ-q2sbHyU-z6MlYl7gCNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25283%2529.jpg" width="480" /></a></div> <span style="font-size: medium;"><b>4. Dollhouse Miniatures (Using anything!)</b></span></div><div>I just love making miniatures so much I couldn't leave this out. My dollhouse was so filled with my homemade miniatures that I eventually had to put some of them in a box until I redecorated again. To make the fabric-bolt shelf below, I used a box from eyeglasses. To make the fabric bolts, I used scraps of fabric glued around scraps of cardboard.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--hxFLB9TIlw/YDwNSRREgqI/AAAAAAAAnfY/SFf36dV3GtYl2WFDZPx8u9M-Eh80LLVugCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25284%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--hxFLB9TIlw/YDwNSRREgqI/AAAAAAAAnfY/SFf36dV3GtYl2WFDZPx8u9M-Eh80LLVugCNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25284%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div> <span style="font-size: medium;"><b>5. Brown Paper Fun (Using brown paper, obviously)</b></span></div><div>There are way more uses than one for that brown paper used as padding in most boxes. Sure, you can reuse it as padding when you ship stuff, but it can also be used for many other things. You can cover books with it (Look the different ways up online. I've found at least three that I prefer.). Bonus: When you paper-cover a book, you can paste your artwork or favorite pictures on it, not to mention <i>draw</i> on it. Just make sure to write what book it is on your new cover. You can also just use brown paper as, well, paper. Use it to figure out your math problems, write down your newest idea, or write a letter to your friend. There are so many uses for brown paper.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YWZA7iVNQMc/YDwNfVFq-gI/AAAAAAAAnfg/yDbE08z1gLgYv-XS-kBH4XNL9CyRpLChACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25285%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YWZA7iVNQMc/YDwNfVFq-gI/AAAAAAAAnfg/yDbE08z1gLgYv-XS-kBH4XNL9CyRpLChACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Five%2BRandom%2BThings%2B%25285%2529.jpg" /></a></div><p>I hope you had fun reading five of my favorite random uses for random junk! I also hope you were inspired to make some of the random junk around your house useful (Anyone tried a bubble-wrap to-do list yet?). There are no rules except: Clean up when you're done, and always ask an adult before wrecking anything you <i>think</i> might be junk. (If you<i> are </i>an adult, then just do it! But if it might be your friend's, ask them.)</p><p>What did you make out of your random junk? I've done it on another one of my favorite books, <i><a href="https://amzn.to/3bjT3og">A Tangle of Knots</a></i> by Lisa Graff.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xWEOCqoENUA/YC6g0lmPe-I/AAAAAAAAnZo/8zG0RNwy8XgrwZ-6dDO_qZESzXsq6GnIACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/A%2BTangle%2Bof%2BKnots.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1365" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xWEOCqoENUA/YC6g0lmPe-I/AAAAAAAAnZo/8zG0RNwy8XgrwZ-6dDO_qZESzXsq6GnIACNcBGAsYHQ/w426-h640/A%2BTangle%2Bof%2BKnots.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><b style="text-align: center;">"In this remarkable world, everyone has a special Talent...</b><p style="text-align: center;"><b>And eleven-year-old Cady's is a phenomenal ability: she can bake the absolutely perfect cake for any person, anywhere. But little does she know that fate has set her on a journey from the moment she was born, leading her to a mysterious address, a family of children struggling to grow beyond their own Talents, and a Talent Thief who will alter her life forever."</b></p></blockquote><p>First off, I'd just like to say this is one of the better middle-grade books I've read. It's a great family read because, even though the synopsis doesn't mention it, the book really seems to be based off family. The story is told from a lot of different views, so it keeps winding every which way until, like the title suggests, the stories all get tied together.</p><p>There are quite a few characters in the book, including Cady who can bake any cake, Marigold who can't find her Talent, Will who loves to adventure, and V who can play the oboe, but I was never confused or got the characters mixed up. The switch of perspectives every chapter was a style of writing I like but don't see often.</p><p>I would rate this book five stars and say it's a good read for anyone, even people older than the suggested audience. The tale bounces through a lot of different settings and places, but it doesn't move either too fast or too slow. It has a lot of adventure, but it's all understandable and comes at an easy-to-digest rate.</p><p>All in all, <i>A Tangle of Knots</i> is a good read for anytime and (almost) any age. Also, sprinkled throughout the book are recipes for many unusual cakes. The end of the story is pretty conclusive, so it's not one of those cliffhangers that makes you so mad you don't want to read the next book. I'm not completely sure if there's another book in the series, but this one ends off in such a manner that if there <i>is</i> a sequel, you really don't have to read it.</p><p>What are your favorite books? Do you have a suggestion of a book I should review? Tell me!</p><p><span style="color: #f1c232; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></p><p><br /></p>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-84265471585448416292021-01-19T12:53:00.001-07:002021-01-19T12:53:05.526-07:00Fun and Fascinating "Pets" for the Pandemic<p> Animals are fascinating to watch, especially if they live underwater and swim up and down, back and forth, and every which way. We got brown Planaria, living hydra, and daphnia from an online science site called <a href="http://www.carolina.com">www.carolina.com</a>. The daphnia were mostly for feeding the hydra and planarians.</p><p><a href="https://www.carolina.com/invertebrates/budding-hydra-living/132804.pr?question=living+hydra">Hydra viridissima</a> are a species of cnidarian that live in freshwater. They are discernable by the squid-like appendages on top. They mostly stick to the sides or bottom of the container with their little tentacle-things waving around, but occasionally, struck by a burst of activity, they swim across the cage with an entertaining flurry of movement. To eat, they snatch food with their "tentacles".</p><p><a href="https://www.carolina.com/invertebrates/brown-planaria-living/FAM_132954.pr?question=brown+planaria">Planaria torva</a> are planarians of the family <span face="sans-serif" style="background: none rgb(255, 255, 255); color: black; text-decoration-line: none;">Planariidae</span>. They live in freshwater, and though they do sometimes cling to the container, they are much more active than hydra and are constantly either scooting along the walls or swimming around and over each other. Planarians also eat daphnia. An interesting fact and fun experiment to try is cutting a planarian in half. When they are cut in half, each half turns into a whole new planarian. As in, each half starts moving around and eating like it never used to be part of another planarian.</p><p><a href="https://www.carolina.com/crustaceans/daphnia-magna-living/FAM_142330.pr?question=daphnia">Daphnia </a>are very tiny, typically so small they're difficult to see. They can live in many environments, anywhere from acidic swamps to freshwater. They're very adaptable. Both hydra and planarians eat them. If you're lucky enough to be able to see them (Providing the ones in your batch are fairly large for daphnia; their size ranges from 0.2mm to 0.5mm!), you'll have the pleasure of watching a very active creature. The ones in my batch were constantly bouncing every which way. To be truthful, they remind me of sand fleas.</p><p>After studying the daphnia, planarians, and hydra in the name of science, all of them were deposited in our frog Squirmy's tank. Some planarians are still occasionally spotted today. No hydra are to be seen, and who knows where the daphnia went. I'll admit it: I did keep three of the planarians, one large one and two tiny. They seemed very happy in the container (Which needed refilling often). They are actually very easy to keep. All they needed was a little water and a gnat about once a week. They take well to transferring containers if you need to clean gnats from the bottom. They don't like the light too much though, so I made a paper cylinder to cover their container when I wasn't watching or feeding them.</p><p>Do you want to get planarians, daphnia, or hydra? They're amazing creatures that can live awhile with very little care, unlike a goldfish that needs feeding often.</p><p>Did you get any? Which ones? Tell me!</p><p><span style="color: #8e7cc3; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></p><p><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bm5xKSC83B4/YAcxVWfk2GI/AAAAAAAAm48/Ew5IgDhmzOoeZO22b6HxpxFK0TrwhJzpACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/12-12-19%2BScience.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bm5xKSC83B4/YAcxVWfk2GI/AAAAAAAAm48/Ew5IgDhmzOoeZO22b6HxpxFK0TrwhJzpACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/12-12-19%2BScience.jpg" width="640" /></a></p><br /><p><br /></p>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-37600093224714224212020-12-15T19:41:00.001-07:002020-12-15T19:41:25.269-07:00Minecraft Peaceful Mobs Post Has Been Updated!Our <a href="http://www.dudeandbabygirl.com/2017/02/do-you-like-minecraft-in-minecraft-word.html">Peaceful Mobs</a> post has been updated with new pictures, a few completely new mobs, and better descriptions to fit the 1.16.4 update. You can find them almost anywhere (Including <a href="https://amzn.to/3mQ4mbM">Amazon</a>! Seriously! You have to check it out.), and they come in a lot of shapes. The preferred shape for these is round and smooth, but you could try a rough rectangular one. One thing these all have in common is a single step: <b>wash the rock before you use it</b>. This is very important, because you don't who did what on those rocks. Bird poo can carry disease.</p><p>Use number one: Pet rocks. No, not putting the rock in a dollhouse and covering it with a blanket. This is actually painting and drawing a pet on a rock. Paint a base layer and let it dry. Next, use a pencil to draw the shape of a pet (Maybe even your real one). I drew a cat. Color your shape in with paint or markers that have good coloring and dry on paint, like <a href="https://amzn.to/3exIsqI">Sharpies</a>. Let dry.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sn9Gx2iVZGg/X6SFpM-k32I/AAAAAAAAlSc/ycUfD6w6znc5guq7nv1xWfq533rktUzAACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25281%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sn9Gx2iVZGg/X6SFpM-k32I/AAAAAAAAlSc/ycUfD6w6znc5guq7nv1xWfq533rktUzAACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25281%2529.JPG" /></a></div>Use number two: Inspiration. Whether you're an artist or author or a kid trying to make up a story, these are great. Any picture or shape works; just brush a layer of glue on the rock, stick on the chosen item, and brush more glue over it. I've done quite a few with paper, but I did a lizard with fabric here.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PDg0dKIS72E/X6SFpoSkSfI/AAAAAAAAlSg/h8GneKxtD68_lIsVohO0OlKFs4qRg_WhQCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PDg0dKIS72E/X6SFpoSkSfI/AAAAAAAAlSg/h8GneKxtD68_lIsVohO0OlKFs4qRg_WhQCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25282%2529.JPG" /></a></div>Use number three: Gifting. Rocks alone might be an underwhelming gift (Just an opinion!), but a small rock glued to a gift tag or placed in a coffee mug (Make sure it's empty first) is a great way to brighten someone's day. Simply draw right on the rock with markers or paint.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kfy0SkSqSw0/X6SFo4Hj0MI/AAAAAAAAlSY/sZ7VrJBe54UAfFKaYixlIko5QGUFGtKJACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25283%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kfy0SkSqSw0/X6SFo4Hj0MI/AAAAAAAAlSY/sZ7VrJBe54UAfFKaYixlIko5QGUFGtKJACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25283%2529.JPG" /></a></div>Use number four: Organization and storage. A great place to store rubber bands or hair elastics is on a rock. It not only looks pretty, it's a functional means of storage.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hUEFOh0mpT4/X6SF2XLByeI/AAAAAAAAlSk/yqruJerA7BYYvK2HDFaE9f6K6T5VOS2wACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25284%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hUEFOh0mpT4/X6SF2XLByeI/AAAAAAAAlSk/yqruJerA7BYYvK2HDFaE9f6K6T5VOS2wACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Use number five: A paperweight. Now, you might be thinking <i>why on Earth do I need a paperweight? What is this, the nineteenth century?</i> No, it's not the nineteenth century. Sometimes windows are open when it gets windy, and papers have a tendency to flutter all over the room before landing in the dog's water bowl. A paperweight is a simple solution to that problem. Simply create a paper flower (It doesn't have to like mine) and glue it to the rock. Use glitter glue to create a mandala next to the flower.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g5tOLgxrMIk/X6SF2wbtF0I/AAAAAAAAlSo/vvshc2qVnOgsHfl7TF2uuZ2TG0U4pJKYACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g5tOLgxrMIk/X6SF2wbtF0I/AAAAAAAAlSo/vvshc2qVnOgsHfl7TF2uuZ2TG0U4pJKYACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25285%2529.JPG" /></a></div>You can use your rocks as suggested, but you can also display them inside, share them, glue them to posts and stick them in pots, make small ones for rings or magnets, or place them outside. If using them outside <b>always seal them first</b>. If you don't use a proper <a href="https://amzn.to/3k3Htjt">waterproof sealer</a>, your lovely designs will wash away when they get wet.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wOotD_kFrmc/X6SF4dAFUEI/AAAAAAAAlSw/j-VxXtJkGEUQKc5C-_wml-EtzwVbj9t4ACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Rocks%2B%25286%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wOotD_kFrmc/X6SF4dAFUEI/AAAAAAAAlSw/j-VxXtJkGEUQKc5C-_wml-EtzwVbj9t4ACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Rocks%2B%25286%2529.JPG" /></a></div>I hope you had fun decorating your rocks! This book is a great conglomeration of over fifty stories of animals saving lives, animals rescuing people, and animal myths. So many animals! The stories in this book happen at all different times, from very recently to 9/11. The book also has facts to back up the stories, explanations of why the rescues happened, and short stories to further shed light on the topic. But this book isn't all dogs! Parrots, pigs, dolphins, cats, even gorillas and wolves save lives!</div><div><br /></div><div>I would recommend this book to animal lovers, pet owners, and wanna-be vets. </div><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Daisy-Rescue-Stories-Paramedic-Parrots/dp/1936976625/ref=as_li_ss_il?dchild=1&keywords=daisy+to+the+rescue&qid=1601930810&sr=8-1&linkCode=li3&tag=homekidslife-20&linkId=c9c99a017c2a4e0f3b53a96d11bac300&language=en_US" target="_blank"></a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=homekidslife-20&language=en_US&l=li3&o=1&a=1936976625" style="border: none; margin: 0px;" width="1" /><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Daisy-Rescue-Stories-Paramedic-Parrots/dp/1936976625/ref=as_li_ss_il?dchild=1&keywords=daisy+to+the+rescue&qid=1601930810&sr=8-1&linkCode=li3&tag=homekidslife-20&linkId=c9c99a017c2a4e0f3b53a96d11bac300&language=en_US" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=1936976625&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=homekidslife-20&language=en_US" /></a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=homekidslife-20&language=en_US&l=li3&o=1&a=1936976625" style="border: none; margin: 0px;" width="1" /><div><br /></div><div><span style="color: #76a5af; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></div>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-13575856622311037842020-09-29T13:03:00.002-06:002021-02-28T15:13:34.217-07:00Book Review: Misfits<p> As you might know, I <i>really</i> like to read. Books, books, and more books. A suggestion to review books sparked my interest. I like books and I like to write. What could be better? So here's my first review. I've done it on Jen Calonita's fantasy series <a href="https://amzn.to/30iUVsO" style="font-style: italic;">Royal Academy Rebels: Misfits</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IpnaXhFfa3k/X3OBTuE6eEI/AAAAAAAAkQo/d-LJc_-ljo8_Ny4TWySFJL6Suo-RMBVawCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Misfits.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IpnaXhFfa3k/X3OBTuE6eEI/AAAAAAAAkQo/d-LJc_-ljo8_Ny4TWySFJL6Suo-RMBVawCNcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/Misfits.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>The plot was fairly similar to her other series, <a href="https://amzn.to/3n1JsaG" style="font-style: italic;">Fairy Tale Reform School</a>, but was overall an enjoyable book. I especially related to the main character because she likes animals and has a pet lizard (I don't, but...). The plot had body, and the author's writing style is easy to understand. I was very happy to notice that she didn't have all of the princesses flouncing around in pink dresses and fantasizing about who their prince would be. The book did have a few confusing parts, though. The main character doesn't really seem to like dresses and skirts, nonetheless pink or purple, but she willingly asks for purple pants. Yes, I do understand that this isn't a vital part of the book. <div><br /></div><div>Overall, I would give this book five stars and recommend it to whoever trusts my judgement.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="color: #674ea7; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span></div>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-50603934687667373052020-09-27T09:59:00.005-06:002020-09-27T09:59:48.818-06:00Paper Rose Craft<p>This paper rose craft makes a much more realistic one than bunching up tissue paper. To make it, you'll need three or four pages out of a magazine. Rip them out as close to the staples as possible. You'll also need scissors and tape.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qk6hYuWCIws/X2-zHnuNkgI/AAAAAAAAkL0/kSyGyTRZ3QE2lyfUmrIntIYig-kvm7MjgCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/Paper%2BRose%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qk6hYuWCIws/X2-zHnuNkgI/AAAAAAAAkL0/kSyGyTRZ3QE2lyfUmrIntIYig-kvm7MjgCPcBGAYYCw/s320/Paper%2BRose%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Start by ripping the three neat edges of the papers off to create four rough edges.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yc9Xzkn2hgI/X2-zW-HRZhI/AAAAAAAAkMA/KsqsCf4WKT0S0TKDnO0OkkaUSV3XIFRDQCPcBGAYYCw/s2048/Paper%2BRose%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yc9Xzkn2hgI/X2-zW-HRZhI/AAAAAAAAkMA/KsqsCf4WKT0S0TKDnO0OkkaUSV3XIFRDQCPcBGAYYCw/s320/Paper%2BRose%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Rip two or three of the papers into nine pieces each. I only used two. Make the pieces as neat as possible.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r6_9n8yoyGw/X2-zYMeROwI/AAAAAAAAkME/vSiFUs-xsp4rFi3UAcjtwjOtrapxraAaACPcBGAYYCw/s2048/Paper%2BRose%2B%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r6_9n8yoyGw/X2-zYMeROwI/AAAAAAAAkME/vSiFUs-xsp4rFi3UAcjtwjOtrapxraAaACPcBGAYYCw/s320/Paper%2BRose%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Take one of the ripped squares and bunch up one end until the piece is shaped like a petal. Make one! You won't always have fabric or time to sew a new one, so here are two simple face masks made from household materials. I personally would only wear these out exercising, but if you really need it, you could totally wear these in a store.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The materials shown in the picture below are the basics of what you need for both face masks. Just scissors, rubber bands, and any type of tape. Or you could use staples.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GGyeFGGZGIE/X1Pgev16HsI/AAAAAAAAjls/a_gVS6adl1QXiOsT3LgUU8BZQVXtihWSgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25281%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GGyeFGGZGIE/X1Pgev16HsI/AAAAAAAAjls/a_gVS6adl1QXiOsT3LgUU8BZQVXtihWSgCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>To make the first one, grab a paper towel. I used a half-sheet, but if you have a larger face than a kid, you should use a full sheet. Fold the paper towel in half like shown.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cUoUCiuvfgk/X1PiTdX_NHI/AAAAAAAAjmU/Jw0TlpVjL2U1PQVaD0ROkxzmleOGb4A7gCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cUoUCiuvfgk/X1PiTdX_NHI/AAAAAAAAjmU/Jw0TlpVjL2U1PQVaD0ROkxzmleOGb4A7gCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>Now carefully fold one end of the paper towel into an "M" shape. Make sure the fold is at the top. Tape or staple it in place.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bMvRGcAG7FM/X1PiS54m7CI/AAAAAAAAjmQ/HXRIAaJpazk2LhtF5Q9VhsKdFyADmUZ1QCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25283%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bMvRGcAG7FM/X1PiS54m7CI/AAAAAAAAjmQ/HXRIAaJpazk2LhtF5Q9VhsKdFyADmUZ1QCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>Repeat on the other side. Make sure the M's face in the same direction, or it will be very uncomfortable and messy looking.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZpQWDgCTwdc/X1PiTkYFZqI/AAAAAAAAjmY/av3MWJa-c0s_pB8bJkQfJbmZh2NGpGXOACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25284%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZpQWDgCTwdc/X1PiTkYFZqI/AAAAAAAAjmY/av3MWJa-c0s_pB8bJkQfJbmZh2NGpGXOACNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>Tape or staple a rubber band to each side. Done!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSUpMi24z2s/X1PijOuq_uI/AAAAAAAAjmo/0cNLkoV1JpoXdtoi1IETFDcHP3jmHxy0wCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSUpMi24z2s/X1PijOuq_uI/AAAAAAAAjmo/0cNLkoV1JpoXdtoi1IETFDcHP3jmHxy0wCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25285%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lKLnB2xWfUY/X1Pij0Fpo_I/AAAAAAAAjms/UzalSa4KWjoltU7LqBEDv3w1cR4SWPiJgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25286%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lKLnB2xWfUY/X1Pij0Fpo_I/AAAAAAAAjms/UzalSa4KWjoltU7LqBEDv3w1cR4SWPiJgCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25286%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xtRsQQPtQMs/X1Pik2HUYOI/AAAAAAAAjmw/bBM9kUQKIN0N9vvX9YwIgxAOrVJdoFZywCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25287%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xtRsQQPtQMs/X1Pik2HUYOI/AAAAAAAAjmw/bBM9kUQKIN0N9vvX9YwIgxAOrVJdoFZywCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/DIY%2BFace%2BMask%2B%25287%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>This next face mask looks like it would be something from Star Wars. I only used one color per tattoo, but you can totally use more if you want to. All you'll need is an old sheet of stickers (or a piece of paper) and nail polish without bad chemicals. I used <a href="https://amzn.to/2EuymJl" target="_blank">Jenna Hipp</a>, but you could also use <a href="https://amzn.to/30ins1G" target="_blank">Piggy Paint</a>. My Jenna Hipp set is a more neutral palette than the one pictured in the link, although I think the bright colors would work better.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tZ12sNe92GI/XySInA_kobI/AAAAAAAAimI/8GQgl0t-Ka4o2tCTLeS6HpPzn-wu-CNWwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tZ12sNe92GI/XySInA_kobI/AAAAAAAAimI/8GQgl0t-Ka4o2tCTLeS6HpPzn-wu-CNWwCNcBGAsYHQ/s640/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
First, you need a stencil. If you already have one you like, skip ahead. To make the stencil, use an old sticker sheet with a large space at the top, or use a piece of paper. The paper option just won't stick to you. The color doesn't matter. Cut a square out of the large space, and fold the square in half if you want a mirrored pattern. Use a pen to draw your chosen design on the sticker.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nNLx3ykz-AI/XySImh81hiI/AAAAAAAAimE/q6BKZxCT1N4OhWMjRp4zlgs2HieC0GT-QCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nNLx3ykz-AI/XySImh81hiI/AAAAAAAAimE/q6BKZxCT1N4OhWMjRp4zlgs2HieC0GT-QCNcBGAsYHQ/s640/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Cut your design out and unfold it. You just made a stencil!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ce8SmqE6bAk/XySIlIRN4kI/AAAAAAAAimA/gpLoIVrdVWkGp7zahBV0xtKvlAEx67kgwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ce8SmqE6bAk/XySIlIRN4kI/AAAAAAAAimA/gpLoIVrdVWkGp7zahBV0xtKvlAEx67kgwCNcBGAsYHQ/s640/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Place the stencil on your arm or wherever you want it to go. Make sure your clothes aren't going to get in the way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aqg8bLVlNfk/XySIviHuKzI/AAAAAAAAimM/FCCp_Dm9hAANfFYpUuQvaW0hiHHPU5xYQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aqg8bLVlNfk/XySIviHuKzI/AAAAAAAAimM/FCCp_Dm9hAANfFYpUuQvaW0hiHHPU5xYQCNcBGAsYHQ/s640/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Take your chosen color or colors of nail polish and paint inside the stencil. Try not to go out of the stencil's edges.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9WZqgDoru3w/XySIwsnl-DI/AAAAAAAAimQ/leBAIJx7fWk2h-ZL7zgQVunxG1i3K67WgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9WZqgDoru3w/XySIwsnl-DI/AAAAAAAAimQ/leBAIJx7fWk2h-ZL7zgQVunxG1i3K67WgCNcBGAsYHQ/s640/DIY%2BTattoos%2B%25285%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Blow on the nail polish to make it dry faster. Piggy Paint dries a little faster than Jenna Hipp. Once the polish is dry, take the stencil off. Be careful not to rip it if you plan to keep it to use again later.<br />
<br />
Wasn't that cool? Tell me what shape you used!<br />

I like to craft, read, and I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up, so my activities fall in those categories.<br />
<br />
The first thing is a playset by <a href="https://amzn.to/30WbWs4" target="_blank">Playmobil</a>. It has a bunch of vet related trinkets for the lady. She comes with the stethoscope permanently in her ears, but I can't lose it that way. It also comes with a stack of books, a scalpel, tweezers, suture removal scissors, a needle, and a bunch of bottles and tubes and jars. The whole set comes in a nice case for carrying it in the car or wherever. The figures include a lady vet, a dog with a moving head, a puppy, and a cat with a scar that disappears and reappears.<br />
<a href="https://www.amazon.com/PLAYMOBIL-Vet-Visit-Carry-Case/dp/B01B138GE6/ref=as_li_ss_il?crid=M5BO227OJJPQ&dchild=1&keywords=vet+visit+carry+case&qid=1596046411&sprefix=vet+visit+carry+,aps,186&sr=8-2&linkCode=li3&tag=homekidslife-20&linkId=39302e3efa77c0f1605bc632b504e6b5&language=en_US" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B01B138GE6&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=homekidslife-20&language=en_US" /></a>
<br />
<br />
The second thing is the <a href="https://amzn.to/3jO6tMC" target="_blank">Paint by Sticker: Travel</a> book. It has twelve pages of thick paper that are brimming with numbered shapes. In the back of the book are sheets of stickers for filling in the outlines on the thick pages. The sticker sheets come with a small picture of the completed poster at the top, and I like to cut those out for another use.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0761193634/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=li3&tag=homekidslife-20&linkId=6c9aaf254181c163893a7f815786b32b&language=en_US" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=0761193634&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=homekidslife-20&language=en_US" /></a><br />
<br />
Another book that I'm liking a lot is the <a href="https://amzn.to/2D0XJC7" target="_blank">American Girl Farm and Feast Book</a>. It combines crafting and reading all in one! It's a great book because it tells you how to make produce from tissue paper. I used my leftover stock from the holidays and made my doll a whole farmer's market stand! I also like that it tells you how food comes from farms to your table. I made my doll a chicken, like the book showed, and it's so cute!<br />

<br />
I hope you're keeping yourself entertained while you stay home. Tell me your favorite things to do around your house!<br />

The allergy pills and tissues were really so easy.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_MfwZMkyKq8/XxONbt_PGRI/AAAAAAAAiPg/9OM0wGaysDo1Y6qzSzWadXVXFpytygVNwCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25281%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_MfwZMkyKq8/XxONbt_PGRI/AAAAAAAAiPg/9OM0wGaysDo1Y6qzSzWadXVXFpytygVNwCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div><div><div>For the allergy pills, I simply made a small paper label and taped it to a doll-sized medicine bottle. The bottle was originally a dog vitamin bottle from a vet set.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KtBcLwytNdM/XxOV4qr1R3I/AAAAAAAAiQM/A8gCe6dZ02UdgaqJ5bAuHFChrlNN5QargCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KtBcLwytNdM/XxOV4qr1R3I/AAAAAAAAiQM/A8gCe6dZ02UdgaqJ5bAuHFChrlNN5QargCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The tissue box was also simple. I just drew a "t" shape with 1-inch squares on a piece of paper, decorated it, and cut it out. I added a slit in one of the squares so my doll could pull the tissues out. I taped the box together and stuffed it with a tissue cut into small squares. Make sure to pull one through the top!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zrwmjSK3-gw/XxOV5cmGcII/AAAAAAAAiQU/K5EKGoNs_0wLzSh5B6qk0jt7llvj6GcNgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25284%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zrwmjSK3-gw/XxOV5cmGcII/AAAAAAAAiQU/K5EKGoNs_0wLzSh5B6qk0jt7llvj6GcNgCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>To make sure my doll was ready for everything, I put her EpiPen, inhaler, allergy pills, and tissues in her bag. She also needs a phone, journal, pen, snack, and hand sanitizer.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LI-A8OJAifQ/XxOWE01tcPI/AAAAAAAAiQY/XMPY1fE_ZU8ymAwqzm9Wkp0I9QpvqprRgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="468" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LI-A8OJAifQ/XxOWE01tcPI/AAAAAAAAiQY/XMPY1fE_ZU8ymAwqzm9Wkp0I9QpvqprRgCNcBGAsYHQ/w625-h468/Allergy%2BKit%2BFinale%2B%25285%2529.JPG" width="625" /></a></div>If your doll has a big bag, make sure she also packs a small container of sunscreen and a pair of sunglasses!<br /><div><br /></div><div>Put her allergy alert bracelet on her wrist, and she's ready to go! It's so great because it's very easy to customize. Now your doll won't have to worry about no one knowing her allergies.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kJGgl7ct3vU/XvuO4WVvjvI/AAAAAAAAhew/g75qSmOSQPQUi3Wcppx-fzjQvlNOBfnWACNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kJGgl7ct3vU/XvuO4WVvjvI/AAAAAAAAhew/g75qSmOSQPQUi3Wcppx-fzjQvlNOBfnWACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Get some construction paper. The leftover from the <a href="http://www.dudeandbabygirl.com/2020/06/diy-asthma-and-allergy-set-epipen.html" target="_blank">EpiPen post</a> works well. Cut out a 1/2 inch by 4 1/2 inch rectangle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vPUFzhcDcS8/XvuPmkzgQhI/AAAAAAAAhfU/7DZ6WwyHRnQNSwMRJQvzYphPC57gAOKJgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vPUFzhcDcS8/XvuPmkzgQhI/AAAAAAAAhfU/7DZ6WwyHRnQNSwMRJQvzYphPC57gAOKJgCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Wrap the rectangle loosely around your doll's wrist.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--pqyxMrmYAI/XvuPl2VvRVI/AAAAAAAAhfQ/xTUVOenmiUcgvd4yJEaZN7D3HIZ4-OdqgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--pqyxMrmYAI/XvuPl2VvRVI/AAAAAAAAhfQ/xTUVOenmiUcgvd4yJEaZN7D3HIZ4-OdqgCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Fasten with a brad. Be careful not to scratch your doll. If you're having trouble, just put the brad in the other way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--XkVREnbxOk/XvuPm6rtWkI/AAAAAAAAhfY/cjuz91F8cIkWM09ZJywnqIW4wGw8SIFOQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--XkVREnbxOk/XvuPm6rtWkI/AAAAAAAAhfY/cjuz91F8cIkWM09ZJywnqIW4wGw8SIFOQCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Now cut out small squares of paper; make them smaller than a half inch. Draw your doll's allergies on them. Color in the pictures and write their names.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZU9pxev2FPU/XvuPx5KnwTI/AAAAAAAAhfc/3O8K3PAbZzUNTENziAUjC0zmB14kvbmdwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZU9pxev2FPU/XvuPx5KnwTI/AAAAAAAAhfc/3O8K3PAbZzUNTENziAUjC0zmB14kvbmdwCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25285%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Use a glue stick or double-sided tape to attach the pictures to your doll's bracelet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0VVztCHgqNU/XvuPyCSIqgI/AAAAAAAAhfg/OFs-Xdx4Xn8fxt0aAXor6gLvQuaVdITKwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25286%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0VVztCHgqNU/XvuPyCSIqgI/AAAAAAAAhfg/OFs-Xdx4Xn8fxt0aAXor6gLvQuaVdITKwCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/Allergy%2BBracelet%2B%25286%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Now your doll is almost ready to feel allergy-protected when she goes out into the world! I'm working on documenting the rest of the set. Allergy pills will come next.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: cyan; font-size: large;">Baby Girl</span>Chrissyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12877195383232495223noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003742683248299282.post-26783666034998457362020-06-30T09:39:00.000-06:002020-06-30T09:39:34.470-06:00DIY Asthma and Allergy Set: EpiPenAmerican Girl recently released an asthma and allergy set containing inhalers, allergy pills, a bracelet, an asthma action plan, a bag, an inhaler spacer, travel tissues, allergy nose spray, and an EpiPen. Dude and I have asthma of different kinds and our mom has food allergies, so I decided to recreate the kit for my doll. I started with the inhaler (picture and link at the bottom), which I found on a doll crafts website. Then I made up a design for an EpiPen. I've shared it below. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UwsQNtSrU8k/XvtUtcJlePI/AAAAAAAAhdM/SAQC9G5ndpQzQ-zDMEwYKvWZw46Kz_zcgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UwsQNtSrU8k/XvtUtcJlePI/AAAAAAAAhdM/SAQC9G5ndpQzQ-zDMEwYKvWZw46Kz_zcgCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Cut out a 2 by 4 1/2 inch rectangle of red construction paper. This will be the EpiPen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DrZllhhyyZA/XvtUtcKUesI/AAAAAAAAhdI/fhvg58XdqNcUvpYLU1VmOJmt8zlb1QJ5wCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DrZllhhyyZA/XvtUtcKUesI/AAAAAAAAhdI/fhvg58XdqNcUvpYLU1VmOJmt8zlb1QJ5wCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Tape two craft sticks (not jumbo sized!) together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-keYqNkfGtnw/XvtUssdPOtI/AAAAAAAAhdE/6yMDXfOT4JA_isxdxykSuKt2XxofZ41QgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-keYqNkfGtnw/XvtUssdPOtI/AAAAAAAAhdE/6yMDXfOT4JA_isxdxykSuKt2XxofZ41QgCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Wrap the paper around the craft sticks and glue the paper together. Don't glue it to the craft sticks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ke4DCaepilA/XvtU7A3ay_I/AAAAAAAAhdQ/uop1kPXFMeMXBNuHq_ltPA0nFQPVDFv4QCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ke4DCaepilA/XvtU7A3ay_I/AAAAAAAAhdQ/uop1kPXFMeMXBNuHq_ltPA0nFQPVDFv4QCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
You should have a hollow tube when you're finished.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BxCDngpaUg8/XvtVVI4ktGI/AAAAAAAAhd8/wueXQ2jONBoqi-9OqauTFZszbak1R8JQgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25287%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BxCDngpaUg8/XvtVVI4ktGI/AAAAAAAAhd8/wueXQ2jONBoqi-9OqauTFZszbak1R8JQgCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25287%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Using a hot glue gun, smear some glue on a piece of wax paper. Make the smear big enough to cover one open end of your tube. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oC2kR-g4agc/XvtU_4mt5EI/AAAAAAAAhdg/ol8vy02Vs9YnJkOmlwqP8jKrJ_DnQUH8QCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25286%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oC2kR-g4agc/XvtU_4mt5EI/AAAAAAAAhdg/ol8vy02Vs9YnJkOmlwqP8jKrJ_DnQUH8QCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25286%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Place the tube on the glue and leave it there until the glue dries. When it's dry, carefully peel it off the wax paper and pull the extra glue off the sides of the tube. The end should be filled in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WtRCWXJCRYQ/XvtVfjZpxAI/AAAAAAAAheA/p8D1PHapJ0MwjxVSkXMkyieO2-8c0-U2wCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/EpiPen%2B%25288%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WtRCWXJCRYQ/XvtVfjZpxAI/AAAAAAAAheA/p8D1PHapJ0MwjxVSkXMkyieO2-8c0-U2wCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/EpiPen%2B%25288%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
